We are a team of former operators and investors, backed by long-term family office capital. Why the Blue Ox? Our name comes from Babe the Blue Ox, Paul Bunyan’s loyal companion. Legend says Babe was so powerful he could reshape the land with a single step. Is my business a fit?
We partner with founder-owned engineering and environmental services firms whose owners want to keep building. If you've built a profitable business with a strong reputation and long-standing client relationships, we'd love to talk.
How is this different from selling to private equity?
Most buyers fold your company into theirs. We don't. Your firm stays its own company, with you at the helm and a real ownership stake in what you build. We add what's hard to do alone: back-office support, recruiting, and capital to grow.
Would I sell all or part of my business?
Part. We acquire a majority stake, and you keep significant ownership in your own company, not a small slice of a distant holding company. You keep running the business day to day, and you share in the upside as the broader partnership grows.
What happens to my employees and my company’s name?
They stay. Your team and your reputation are what make your business special, and we're here to build on both, not replace them. Over time your people can access new resources, additional career paths, and a larger platform to grow with.
What’s my role after we partner?
Most partners choose to keep leading the business: your clients, your team, and the work. We take on the administrative burden so you can focus on the parts you enjoy most.
